A.) Introduction:
Providing
quality learning to learners is the primary goal in education. Multifarious
studies, methodologies & strategies have been conducted just merely to come
up to the most effective & efficient approach in teaching. Different educational
philosophies have been thoroughly scrutinized & compared namely
perennialism, essentialism, progressivism & reconstructionism/ critical
theory of which among them is best suited for the type of learners nowadays.
B.) Rationale:
The
survey being conducted to 11 co-teachers aims to provide data or information of
which among the educational philosophies is commonly used by teachers. This is
also to determine the most common methodologies & strategies used by the
teachers nowadays. Through this, we may be able to probe another determining
factors how to improve, & refine our approach in teaching.
C.) Interpretation/ Implication:
Based
on the results conducted to 11 co-teachers both in public & in private
schools, it has been found out that the common educational philosophy used by
teacher at present is Progressvism. They commonly use the “STUDENT CENTERED”
APPROACH wherein the students are given the chance or opportunity to explore
& discover the learning, self-experimentation & reflection on their
experience are given much importance. Field of interests of the students is
also given much attention. Developing one’s personality & social values is
being integrated in preparation of becoming better & more productive
citizens in the future. Thus, it does not only focus mainly on the educational
learning process of the students but also transforming them to become better
& more productive constituents in the community.
D.) Conclusion:
In
my own capricious stand of the commonly used educational philosophy of the
teachers in the survey, it is therefore the most effective & efficient philosophy
in education to be used at present because it is a total transformation of the
learners’ intellectual, emotional, social, physical, moral & spiritual
aspects in life.
